Dr. Choi has spent 25 years focusing on laser treatment for pigmentation and vascular changes. His approach centers on one principle: understanding what is actually present in the skin before selecting a device or energy level.
Alongside clinical practice, he serves as Academic Director of the Korean Society of Laser Dermatology and Hair, as a researcher at the Department of Applied Anatomy, College of Medicine, The Catholic University of Korea, and as a clinical advisor to Classys.
Two brown spots that look alike under ordinary light may behave very differently under magnification. Two red faces may have entirely different underlying causes. That distinction is where treatment begins.
One face can hold many findings at once.
A single patient may present with melasma, solar lentigines, freckles, seborrheic keratoses, post-inflammatory pigmentation and visible vessels at the same time. Dr. Choi emphasizes separating these findings and deciding on a treatment order rather than applying the same approach to every brown or red area.
Pigment
Whether pigment is epidermal or dermal, discrete or diffuse, changes the approach. Treating without that distinction can produce incomplete or unwanted results.
Vascular
Redness is a result. Before choosing a device, the size, depth and distribution of visible vessels is considered alongside any inflammatory component.
Lifting & Regeneration
Rather than simply tightening, understanding which layer has changed and approaching the right depth is the starting point.
Energy-Based Devices
Wavelength, pulse characteristics, tissue target and the patient's skin response all matter. The goal is to match the tool to the finding.
